Epithermal gold deposits, porphyry Cu deposits monitoring and prediction of volcanic eruption basin development for oil and gas accumulation waste materials,
alkali-silica reaction of aggregates,hydrothermal geochemistry and precipitation behavior

Our recent research topics include; (1) modelling of ore deposits based on understanding of genesis of mineral deposits formed associated with island arc magmatism, such as epithermal gold and porphyry copper deposits, (2) monitoring and prediction of volcanic eruption by analyses of ejecta, (3) analyses of thermal and geological structure to understand geological history and development of sedimentary basin for accumulation of oil and gas, (4) understanding of water-rock interaction and behavior of elements with focuses on hydrothermal alteration, weathering of waste materials, and alkali-silica reaction in concrete aggregates, (5) experimental study on hydrothermal geochemistry such as adsorption and precipitation behavior of materials dissolved in aqueous thermal solution with focues on roles of microbe and application to recycling of rare and precious metals. Analytical techniques and instruments applied in laboratory include; X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope for identification and observation of rock, ore and mineral samples, electron probe microanalyzer for determination of chemical composition in microscopic scale, X-ray fluorescence spectrometer for determination of whole-rock composition, heating/freezing stage for fluid inclusion microthermometry, FTIR for determination of water contents in volcanic glass, atomic absorption, ICP-AES and ICP-MS for determination of concentration of dissolved components in aqueous solutions, fission track method for age dating.
